How Black is the black Sea?

Appointment in hand to see some friends in Calarasi (Romania), and in no rush to get there. Caused us to take a detour all the way to the black sea coast.. one night in Varna, two on the Bulgarian north coast and another Romanian south coast.

Two years ago we found an interesting piece of coastline on the north coast, thinking "this would make an amazing spot to stay over".

Packing the van for a first trip after many months takes a little time, fortunately leaving with the van on a long trip at the end of a day is viable, due to the fact you can sleep whenever you get tired.

We made to Varna that evening having a peaceful breakfast along the river's edge.

Just before lunch time we took off , up along the coast to "the spot"After two nights here we decided to brave the Romanian border post. Border crossings always remain a little strained for those carrying a South African passport.

We met up with our friends and had an awesome visit...

We heard from them about a family currently traveling in Bulgaria.

On the spur of the moment we decide to meet up with them so we're off, back Bulgarian central black sea coast to have an awesome few days on the beach sharing adventure stories.

Once again in a secluded location like this the shower comes in as an amazing bonus.

Oh yes and by the way ....

The black sea is not black at all. I have no idea how it got it's name.
